Dartmouth has many varied and interesting shops and is renowned for its art galleries and specialty shops selling unique jewellery, art work and pottery.   Add to that the eclectic mix of stylish clothes shops, interior design and local shops.  You can spend many  happy hours wondering through Dartmouth’s pretty streets.

Walking or Cycling

There are many interesting cycling or walking routes, the South West Coast Path and Dart Valley Trial take you along undulating cliffs or country lanes. Strolling, hiking or cycling you are sure to enjoy this area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.  


Many local gardens are included in the National Open Garden Scheme.

Dartmouth In Bloom is a very active organisation and many of the restaurants, guest houses, pubs, shops and residents join wholeheartedly in the annual scramble to make the very most of their floral displays and maybe catch the eye of the Judges and win a prize. The town is always a hot contender for the Britain In Bloom competition and has in the past won the title.  The Royal Avenue Gardens are a delight thorghout the year.

Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway

Enjoy the nostalgia of the steam train, admire the Beautiful coastal and Countryside views for a lovely excursion.  The Round Robin combines a trip by boat to Totnes, a bus to Paignton and steam train to Kingswear, or visa versa.


If you are a golfer Dartmouth Golf and Country Club is not to be missed.  It has a challenging Championship Course and a 9 hole par 66 course, both are surrounded by stunning scenery and wildlife.
